Pursuant to Committee Rule 7, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics (Committee) determined to release the following statement:
On April 21, 2026, the Committee will hold a public hearing to determine what, if any, sanction would be appropriate for the Committee to recommend to the House of Representatives regarding Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. The hearing will take place at 2:00 p.m. in 1310 Longworth House Office Building. Pursuant to Committee Rule 24(b), the Committee shall receive oral and/or written submissions by counsel to the Committee and counsel for the Respondent. Committee counsel filed a written submission in advance of the hearing. Respondent filed letters of support from community and religious leaders. The Committee hereby publishes Committee counsel’s written submission and Respondent’s letters of support.
