Pursuant to Committee Rule 7, the Chairman and Ranking Member of the Committee on Ethics (Committee) determined to release the following statement:
On January 29, 2026, the Committee announced that the adjudicatory subcommittee in the matter of Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick had scheduled a hearing for March 5, 2026. Since that announcement, Representative Cherfilus-McCormick’s counsel in the matter withdrew from representing her before the adjudicatory subcommittee, and Representative Cherfilus-McCormick asked for a brief continuance to allow her to retain new counsel. The adjudicatory subcommittee agreed to that request and has rescheduled the adjudicatory hearing for March 26, 2026.
